Characters can have a range of weapon talents. Each level of a ranged weapon talent adds +1 to its attack value (not damage). For melee weapons, each talent icon on the character sheet has a slider that determines whether a character prefers an offensive or defensive stance with the chosen weapon, this allocates the points between parry bonus and attack bonus (on a 1:1 ratio). Attack rating is represented by a sword. Parry rating is represented by a shield.
At most a 5 point difference is allowed between parry bonus and attack bonus. For levels 1 through 5 the entire bonus can be put into parry or attack, for level 6 through 18 the points will be split between the two. A 4 point difference is possible on even levels anda 5 point difference is possible on odd levels.
The max rank of any weapon talent is 18. The max starting rank for a new character is 8. The cost to increase each level is the same for each talent and is
